Google Product Search - Another Step to World Domination
Ik doe elke dag nieuwe ontdekkingen en zo ook vandaag. Google Product Search. Halleluja.
Voorheen was dit bekend als Froogle, en deze bestond al sinds 2002. Sinds begin 2003 duikt deze op in de webarchieven.
Op dit moment is deze zoekoptie alleen nog maar in Amerika, maar zoals met alle Google producten zal het niet lang duren voordat ook Nederland aan de beurt is.
Het idee achter Google Product Search is eigenlijk heel simpel:
- Winkeleigenaren kunnen hun producten 1 voor 1 toevoegen aan de Google database of stellen een “feed” ter beschikking waardoor Google continu haar database update.
- Na het verzenden van je inventaris zien Google gebruikers gelijk je producten met hun prijs en kunnen deze beoordelen of segmenteren op regio etc.
Another step from Google to world domination zou ik zeggen, erg slim bedacht. De hoeveelheid data die Google verzamelt nowadays is echt ongelofelijk. Vergelijkingsites gaan het moeilijker krijgen op het moment dat Google meer dominatie krijgt. Denk aan Google Maps en de beoordelingen die er al worden gegeven:
Als hier dan ook nog product reviews bijkomen en eventueel ook reizen etc.. Bizar. Tweakers.net heeft haar eigen pricewatch, maar hiervoor moeten gebuikers wel eerst naar de site van tweakers.
Wat nu als je gewoon in Google intypt: Nikon 30D? Voilá: Nu kan dit allemaal vanaf één startpagina Google.com
En dan zijn er gelukkig ook nog AdWords advertenties waar Google een centje mee verdient.
Een andere bron van inkomsten via /products is Google Checkout, waarbij men een percentage van de verkoopprijs ontvangt.
